came home and did the wgn news......
there is going to be a full page article in this sunday's chicago sun-times....we had a review in Entertainment Weekly that gave it a B.....although it almost seemed to slag it. So i was suprised by the good grade,.....would take a B any day of the week and twice on sundays if i we're still in high school....

Michael McDermott
Noise From Words
[One Little Indian]

Michael McDermott¹s eighth studio album and first on the One Little Indian
label is a stripped-down effort, possibly the roots-rock artist¹s best yet.
Noise From Words is like a clinic, as McDermott wears his emotions on a pair
of songwriting sleeves in a way that brings each powerful track to life. He
tells stories like John Prine, but marries a smoky, barroom voice with pop
sensibility in a way that more closely resembles Marc Cohn. From the start,
you feel McDermott¹s pain as he sings, ³Like a poet writes / A singer sings
/ And you and I make a mess of things.² ³Still Ain¹t Over You Yet² is
tailor-made to sing around a campfire, but for pure songwriting prowess,
nothing matches the agonizing beauty of ³My Father¹s Son² and the uplifting
piano ballad, ³I Shall Be Healed.² ‹Mike Farley
